To make your life easier and ATMs near you more accessible, certain applications and people have come out with features and websites, respectively, to counter the never-ending queues. Using these websites and applications you can get an idea about which ATMs near you have cash and even the length of queues in some cases. Check out our list of applications that can help you locate an ATM near you and possibly save you the trouble of standing in long, long queues.
1. Walnut
The Walnut app for Android is a money manager which can be used for multiple purposes including tracking your expenditure, splitting and settling bills among friends, transferring money to friends, Credit card payments and receiving your bank balance statement. The application is also available for iOS, but can only be used to split and settle bills and send money to friends. The recent update helps you find ATMs with cash near your location. This feature is mainly crowd-sourced and depends on its 1.8 million users to update an ATM’s status.
A Green pin means ATM is currently being used to withdraw cash.An Orange pin means ATM was recently dispensing cash.A Grey pin means that the ATM last dispensed cash a few days ago.
So every time a Walnut app user withdraws cash from an ATM, they’re sent a push notification to feed the app with the queue status at that particular ATM. You can also share this information with your friends via various social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook and Whatsapp, among others.

2. ATM Search
ATMsearch is a new website by Twitter user @WoCharLog to aid citizens in finding ATMs which are dispensing cash. The site is very straightforward and easy to use. As soon as you open the web page, it asks you for your location. Enter the needed information and you’ll get results as shown below. You can search city-wise or for a particular area as shown below.
3. Cash No Cash
Another website launched by Manjunath Talwar, CashNoCash will allow you to scan for available ATMs by simply submitting the pin code relevant to you. As shown below, we tried searching for ATMs in the pin code area ‘110001’ of, New Delhi. You can see that only two of the four ATMs are showing information. This website, like other websites and applications, is crowdsourced and largely depends on its users for data shown on the website. Disclaimer: All these applications are new, as is the demonetisation of two major currency notes and the issues arising out of them. They might not necessarily be accurate all the time, but it certainly won’t hurt to try them out and figure out which works best for you or your location.
